Defense Lawyer Seminar

These are shots of the seminar I gave to defense lawyers who came into the UB from outlying provinces to be briefed on defamation and website law.  Note that all but one are women.  As I have noted before, the vast majority of law and med students are women here .  They say that families spoil the boys by letting them skip a higher education.  This disparity in education has led many of these women to avoid marriage and being tied down to a potentially subservient position .

As for website law, I find that hosts of websites including Yahoo and Google are heavily censored here, unlike U.S. law.   More importantly, these hosts are liable for all content placed by a third party on their websites.  By fed statute in the U.S. these hosts are exempt from such liability.  This leads to my recommendation that they police their sites daily to eliminate liability issues.  Enough about the law...this evening I met with the other international law experts as we made final preparations for the two day national media conference that starts early tomorrow. Big day today but a bigger one tomorrow.  And so it goes...
